The Assistant Kitchen Manager plays a vital role in supporting the Head Chef with the daily operations of the kitchen. This position is also responsible for upholding quality culinary standards, as well as ensuring safety and hygiene protocols are strictly followed within the kitchen environment. The Assistant Kitchen Manager will oversee kitchen staff and guarantee the seamless execution of the menu in the absence of the Head Chef.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees food preparation, kitchen workflow, and staff management when the Head Chef is unavailable.
- Ensures that all dishes meet quality benchmarks, are presented attractively, and are served promptly.
- Implements best practices for health and safety in the kitchen.
- Utilizes feedback from team members, customers, and management to drive improvements and address challenges.
- Assists the Head Chef with administrative tasks as required.
- Monitors culinary trends and provides recommendations for menu enhancements and innovative recipes.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
- Executes leadership responsibilities in accordance with company policies and relevant regulations. This includes hiring, training, performance evaluations, and managing staff assignments; addressing concerns and resolving conflicts.
- Relevant culinary training or experience, which may be evidenced by a degree, certification, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent experience to become a proficient professional cook.
- A minimum of two years of culinary experience is essential.
- Possesses comprehensive food knowledge and the ability to translate that into high-quality dishes.
- Exhibits excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of effectively conveying information and addressing inquiries from customers, management, staff, and suppliers.
- Demonstrates strong mathematical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods, exceeding eight hours.
- You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working alongside other creative individuals to achieve shared objectives.
- You are motivated by dynamic settings and ambitious targets.
- You bring a sense of enjoyment and positivity to the workplace.
