Job Description and Duties

Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

As a Vocational Instructor at Ironwood State Prison, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of inmates by providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in a variety of vocational areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement vocational training programs for inmates
  • Provide instruction and guidance to inmates in a variety of vocational areas, including but not limited to, carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing
  • Assess inmate progress and provide feedback and guidance as needed
  • Collaborate with other prison staff to ensure that inmates are receiving comprehensive training and support

Special Requirements

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment.

Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
