About the Job

Solvenow Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Transmission Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our project teams, you will be responsible for creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on a variety of projects, including underground and overhead high voltage transmission lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform transmission design from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review transmission components to meet project needs and requirements.
  • Prepare transmission equipment specifications, data sheets, and technical bid summaries.
  • Conduct economic conductor selection studies, lightning performance, and grounding calculations.
  • Compile calculations for electrical clearances based on NESC or other applicable codes.
  • Apply strong knowledge of transmission engineering concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Research and compile project-related data, compile studies and reports, and write specifications.
  • Update drawings and verify corrections in multiple CAD software.
  • Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program.
  • Or Bachelor of Science in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
  • 3 years of transmission engineering experience, consulting preferred.
  • Successful completion of the FE or EIT exam preferred.
  • Strong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM, and hydraulic, hydrologic, pavement, transmission analysis programs.
