Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Environmental Service Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring a pristine work environment in designated areas, demonstrating a commitment to service excellence. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing needs within the assigned area, along with strong attention to detail and effective communication skills. Responsibilities may vary based on location and operational requirements.

Key Duties

  • Execute Environmental Services tasks efficiently, adhering to the 7 Step Cleaning Process.
  • Maintain high-quality standards to provide a clean and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ensure cleaning carts, equipment, and storage areas are organized and properly labeled.
  • Utilize cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform cleaning duties in offices, patient rooms, classrooms, common areas, restrooms, hallways, and food service zones.
  • Conduct sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of hallways, stairs, and office spaces.
  • Clean light fixtures, ceilings, vents, walls, furniture, windows, and coverings.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers, transporting waste as necessary.
  • Restock supplies and materials as needed.
  • Assist in moving furniture and setting up tables and chairs.
  • Notify supervisors of any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
  • Apply all relevant OSHA and local safety regulations to assigned tasks.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in janitorial services within a commercial setting is necessary.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently is required.

Working Conditions

  • While standard hours are generally maintained, flexibility for evenings, weekends, and extended hours may be necessary.
  • Job responsibilities may require periods of sitting, standing, and using a telephone or computer.
  • Hearing ability must be sufficient to interact with clients or patients in person and via telehealth.
  • Speaking ability must be adequate for effective communication with clients or patients.
  • Visual acuity must be sufficient for reading printed materials and computer screens.
  • Physical demands may include occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing job duties.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive movements are expected throughout the workday.
  • Dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment is necessary.
