Job Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist will carry out an individualized program of speech language pathology including assessment, treatment, implementation, education, discharge planning and communication to maximize a patient's progress toward achieving functional goals. The Speech Language Pathologist will also maintain a positive working relationship with other health professionals and ancillary staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Patient Care
    • Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and consults with other specialists.
    • Reviews patients' functional needs and adjusts care plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Therapy Planning and Implementation
    • Designs and implements a plan of care for patients based on a thorough assessment of potential development and incorporates participation by significant others whenever it seems appropriate.
    • Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
  • Leadership and Collaboration
    • Directs the assistance of support staff to achieve patients' functional goals.
    • Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Compliance and Documentation
    • Maintains compliance with all relevant Federal, State regulations and Organizational policies.
    • Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans. Regularly updates documentation and maintains prescriptions and signatures.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Current license from the NH Speech Language Pathology and Hearing Care Providers Governing Board required.
    • CPR/BLS certification required.
    • Graduate of an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) accredited speech language pathology (SLP) program strongly preferred.
    • Passage of national Praxis exam or valid Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) issued by ASHA strongly preferred.
  • Working Conditions/Physical Demands
    • Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
    • Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
