Position Summary

The Overhead Crane Maintenance Technician serves as a key representative of our company, engaging directly with customers. In addition to technical expertise, strong interpersonal skills are essential for effective customer relationship management and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair customer cranes and lifting systems as required.
  • Install various types of cranes, hoists, and related components.
  • Modernize or upgrade existing crane systems and parts.
  • Conduct load testing and non-destructive testing on cranes and hoists.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain all service equipment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols in compliance with customer, company, and OSHA standards.
  • Communicate findings to customers, ensuring they understand the work completed before leaving the site.
  • Review and interpret various crane type codes and inspection criteria.
  • Inspect hoists, cranes, and related equipment thoroughly.
  • Document inspection results clearly to outline repair criteria.
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately, including service reports and time entries.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Support Service Writers in understanding inspection reports to create quotes.
  • Maintain current training assignments.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude in all tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

A high school diploma or GED is required; vocational training or experience in crane operations is preferred.

Experience & Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in a maintenance role.
  • Strong mechanical background with the ability to diagnose crane-related issues effectively.
  • Proficient understanding of electrical theory related to crane operations.
  • Commitment to ongoing education in the crane industry.
  • Excellent communication skills for building customer relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organization.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Flexibility to accommodate customer scheduling needs.
  • Physical capability to lift/pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Must pass background checks and drug screenings.
