Banner Health is looking for an Operating Room Technician to join our team.
Position OverviewThis role is essential in ensuring patient safety by managing the functionality of surgical equipment and overseeing the perioperative equipment management program. The technician will be responsible for the secure handling of all surgical instruments and will coordinate equipment evaluations and staff training related to both new and existing tools.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Management: Conduct timely troubleshooting and minor repairs of all equipment, coordinating major repairs with designated vendors.
- Resource Support: Act as the primary resource for physicians and staff regarding equipment issues across various specialties.
- Patient Care Team: Collaborate with the surgical team in operating advanced equipment such as cell savers and lasers, ensuring optimal performance.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment repairs and communicate the status of equipment to management and staff regularly.
- Safety Checks: Perform thorough safety inspections on all equipment prior to use to guarantee safe patient care.
- Education: Identify ongoing training needs for staff related to new equipment and assist in fulfilling these educational requirements.
- Security: Ensure the physical security of all surgical instruments to prevent loss.
- Efficiency: Facilitate quick turnover of operating rooms by anticipating equipment needs and communicating effectively with the team.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least one year of experience in perioperative services or a related field. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
Preferred QualificationsAdditional education or experience in a related area is advantageous.
