Job Overview:
We are in search of a dynamic and experienced Senior Tax Manager to become a vital part of our Finance team. This permanent position presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. The Senior Tax Manager will oversee the tax department and ensure compliance with all tax regulations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a strategic approach, capable of driving change and enhancing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all tax operations, including planning, compliance, and research.
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning for federal and state taxes.
- Manage the tax team in preparing components of the company's federal and state tax returns.
- Facilitate IRS income tax audits, including preparing responses and creating schedules.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicating their effects to management and the tax team, and strategizing to capitalize on changes.
- Support various internal audits and special tax-related projects.
- Review tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.
- Coordinate tax planning and audits.
- Maintain tax balances on the general ledger.
- Prepare tax documents regularly and handle all information data requests.
- Serve as a key contact and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Lead and mentor tax team members to enhance performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree in Taxation is a plus.
- Active CPA License is required.
- 5+ years of experience in a tax manager or public accountant role.
- Strong experience with various tax operations and the ability to drive process improvements.
- Proficient in project management and accounting best practices to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Experience in managing multiple business interests.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tax code, compliance, and procedures for corporations.
- Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
- Expertise in tax planning, strategic planning, and complex tax issues.
- Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
- Analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and knowledgeable in relevant software (e.g., TaxTron).
- Strong understanding of accounting software.
