Position Overview:
The Bakery Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective operation of the Bakery Department as directed by Store and Administrative Management. This position is dedicated to providing Kennie's customers with exceptional products and outstanding customer service.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: A High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required, along with two (2) to four (4) years of relevant experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficiency in reading and interpreting documents such as safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedural manuals. Ability to compose routine reports and correspondence, as well as communicate effectively with customers and staff.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Competence in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY: Capability to address practical problems and manage various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret diverse instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve departmental goals related to sales and gross profit.
- Manage and monitor supply and payroll expenses, inventory, and waste.
- Ensure adherence to proper accounting procedures including invoices, transfers, and inventories.
- Order adequate quantities of raw materials for production and set appropriate pricing.
- Oversee the quality and freshness of products through proper rotation.
- Direct the stocking, display, and rotation of bakery items in the sales area, ensuring seasonal and promotional items are attractively presented.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager and Bakery Specialist on merchandising, planning, scheduling, sales trends, and improvements.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the sales floor, cases/coolers, and back room.
- Ensure all Bakery Department employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Oversee the proper maintenance of all equipment within the department.
- Comply with all safety standards as established by the company.
- Work cooperatively with other departments during store-wide promotions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.
Supervisory Duties:
The Bakery Manager directly supervises Bakery Department employees and is responsible for executing supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. This includes interviewing, hiring, and training staff, as well as planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
