Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join our Deployment / Linux Platforms (DLP) Team. This group is pivotal in developing the essential technologies that facilitate the deployment and operation of software on our autonomous vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including Autonomy, Aurora Services, Technology Foundations, and Vehicle Platforms, to ensure effective software management as we scale.
  • Architect, implement, and sustain software deployment services integral to our autonomous vehicles.
  • Develop and maintain cloud-based solutions that support our autonomous vehicle software deployment processes.
  • Propose innovative code designs and create comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Lead significant projects within the team, driving both tactical and strategic technical decisions.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficient programming skills in C++ or Go.
  • Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related discipline (BS, MS, or PhD).
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong capabilities in software design and architecture, particularly in managing reliable and scalable distributed systems.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, etc.).
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues within complex distributed systems in production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience contributing to and enhancing existing mature codebases.
  • Proficient programming skills in Python.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems, especially in the context of machine installation and provisioning in production.
  • Knowledge of software package management systems in Linux environments.
  • Experience in developing safety-critical software.
  • Understanding of security considerations within software systems.

Compensation

The compensation range for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary, the successful candidate will be eligible for performance bonuses, equity compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package.
