We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Veterinary Laboratory Specialist to join our team at New Mexico State University. As a key member of our veterinary diagnostic laboratory, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of test results, as well as providing exceptional customer service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Accurately enter case data and test results into our laboratory information management system (LIMS)
- Assist with compiling case files and laboratory records
- Distribute preliminary and final test results, final case records, and invoices to clients in a timely manner
- Answer and route phone calls, process incoming and outgoing mail, and maintain confidentiality of laboratory records
- Learn and incorporate our laboratory Quality Management System into daily duties
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three years of experience related to the standard duties of a veterinary laboratory specialist
- Knowledge of laboratory protocols, quality management systems, and office management principles
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
- Experience working in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory setting
- Knowledge of electronic laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
This position is located in Albuquerque, NM, and requires moderate physical activity, including handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds and some standing or walking. The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
