Housekeeping Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Housekeeper/Custodian to join our team at Kentucky State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors.

About the Role:

• The ideal candidate will have previous experience in housekeeping or a related field, with a strong understanding of cleaning practices and standards.
• This is a part-time position, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to accommodate university events and activities.
• The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently or as part of a team, and will possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and students.
• Additional responsibilities include performing routine maintenance on custodial equipment and supplies, emptying trash receptacles, and reporting safety hazards.

Working Conditions:

• This role requires the ability to stand or walk continuously, move furniture and equipment, bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• The successful candidate must be physically able to complete work assignments that may require climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, kneeling, crawling, pushing, and pulling.

Requirements:

• A High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred, but not required; previous experience in housekeeping or a related field is acceptable.
• The successful candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States and be willing to report for work during emergencies and university closings.

Estimated Salary: $14.25 - $17.95 per hour, depending on experience, with opportunities for advancement within the Facilities Department.
