Job Summary:
The Uphams Corner Health Center is seeking a skilled Nutrition Specialist to provide nutrition services and benefits to WIC participants under the supervision of the Senior Nutritionist. This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays.
About the Role:
The Nutrition Specialist will assess, counsel, and provide nutrition education to WIC participants. They will also provide breastfeeding support and resources to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Additionally, they will assist in the development of educational materials and activities, facilitate group nutrition education sessions, and schedule appointments.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and counsel WIC participants on their nutritional needs
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition plans
- Provide breastfeeding support and resources
- Assist in the development of educational materials and activities
- Facilitate group nutrition education sessions
- Schedule appointments and make reminder phone calls
- Answer participant questions and provide reliable transportation to all WIC sites
Requirements:
To be successful as a Nutrition Specialist at the Uphams Corner Health Center, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition (LDN, RD preferred)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
- Proficiency in data entry and typing
- Portuguese, Spanish, or French Creole language proficiency strongly preferred
Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per year
