The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-centered care and coordinating all functions in the unit. In partnership with the management team, the CNC monitors and evaluates nursing care in accordance with established policies.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate care to positively affect patient outcomes within the scope of nursing practice.
- Demonstrate strong and accurate clinical judgment and competent or expert nursing skills while following established policies.
- Document effectively, succinctly, and timely according to organizational policy.
- Incorporate time management and prioritize for efficiency and productivity.
- Follow LGMC process for dispensing of medications and narcotic control and employ clinical judgment related to medication administration.
- Delegate tasks to other health team members, taking into consideration training, cultural competence, experience, and facility/agency policies and procedures.
- Adhere to hospital and unit policies.
- Professionally resolve or seek assistance for clinical problems and conflict.
- Timely collaborate with the healthcare team to report critical information or change in condition.
- Questions and evaluates practice and evidence through research utilization and experiential learning.
- Completes annual educational requirements and other specified learning activities on time.
- Demonstrate professional caring practices through sensitivity, respect, engagement, and assessing for patient and family satisfaction.
- Creates a safe and therapeutic atmosphere for patients, co-workers, other departments, and customers.
- Promotes comfort and prevents suffering through presence and attentiveness.
- Coaches other members of the team for professional growth and to meet the patient's needs.
- Promotes a culture of safety.
- Works on behalf of others representing the concerns of the patient/family/community.
- Adheres to quality standards such as National Patient Safety standards and infection prevention.
- Appropriately teaches patients and families beginning with admission and continuing throughout hospitalization until the last interaction where instructions for home and/or the next provider are accurately provided.
- Maintains and grows competency in response to the needs of patients and the organization.
- Registered Nurse License issued by the Department of Health Professions, Commonwealth of Virginia.
- BLS, Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association.
- NRP, Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
- PALS, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association.
- TNCC, Trauma Nursing Core Course from the Emergency Nurses Association.
