About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at Community of Hope. As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality oral hygiene care to our patients, working closely with our dental team to ensure excellent patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient screening procedures, including assessment of oral health conditions, review of health history, and oral cancer screening.
  • Record patient-hygienist transactions in the patient's dental record, ensuring accurate and complete documentation of patient care.
  • Integrate patient dental hygiene care with other healthcare professionals involved in patient health management.
  • Remove calculus and plaque from teeth using cavitron, piezo, or hand instrumentation.
  • Take and mount diagnostic dental radiographs (x-rays).
  • Apply preventive materials to teeth, such as sealants and fluorides.
  • Counsel patients on good nutrition and its impact on oral health.
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement program of the Dental Department.
  • Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health.
Requirements
  • Diploma from an accredited dental hygienist program.
  • Active DC dental hygienist license or willingness to obtain one.
  • 2 years of experience in a dental office practice preferred.
  • CPR certification.
  • Ability to work in a non-profit environment and commitment to working with under-served populations.
