Job Description

Position Overview

The Patient Care Technician provides essential support to patients, assisting with their daily needs under the supervision of nursing personnel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responds promptly to patient call signals and requests for assistance.
  • Assists in repositioning and turning patients who are confined to bed.
  • Offers physical assistance to help patients with daily living tasks.
  • Monitors and adheres to patients' dietary restrictions and preferences to ensure proper nutrition.
  • Records and tracks food and fluid intake, as well as urinary and fecal output, reporting any significant changes to the healthcare team.
  • Measures and documents vital signs as instructed by medical staff.
  • Collects relevant information regarding patient conditions and treatment plans.
  • Observes patients for any symptoms that may indicate a need for medical intervention.
  • Reports observations regarding patient behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to nursing staff.
  • Reminds patients to take prescribed medications and nutritional supplements.
  • Assists patients with eating and drinking as necessary.
  • Handles the collection and disposal of bedpans and other waste.
  • Provides personal care by washing, dressing, and undressing patients who require assistance.
  • Maintains cleanliness by changing bed linens and making beds.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a similar role is preferred, typically ranging from a few months to one year.
