Position Overview:

The Senior Medical Imaging Technologist is responsible for conducting a range of diagnostic cardiac and vascular examinations under the supervision of a physician, aimed at identifying abnormalities that contribute to patient diagnoses.

Work Schedule: Part-time position requiring 20 hours per week, with two 10-hour shifts.
Availability includes Monday through Saturday, with on-call responsibilities on Sundays and after hours during the week.
The on-call schedule rotates weekly, approximately every fifth week.
Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct various ultrasound procedures utilizing high-frequency sound waves to assess internal organs and blood vessels for disease diagnosis.

- Prepare the examination area, ensuring it is ready for patient use.
- Obtain informed consent and gather accurate clinical histories as necessary for each exam.
- Review patient histories to determine the appropriate protocols for each examination.
- Clearly explain the examination process to patients and assist in positioning them correctly.

- Evaluate patient status and needs, completing relevant diagnostic tests to monitor ongoing conditions and performing necessary interventions.

- Review and assess completed tests for quality and completeness, ensuring the correct type of tests were ordered.
- Ensure high-quality imaging results and coordinate the preparation of images and documentation for physician review.
- Thoroughly document and communicate patient-related information accurately.

- Relay physician instructions or observations from ancillary caregivers to patients, ensuring appropriate care is provided.

- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to meet their needs through clear communication and documentation, ensuring safety and efficiency.

- Facilitate safe and effective handovers between shifts by communicating essential information to incoming staff.
- Monitor the reliability and safety of equipment, reporting any issues or required maintenance.
- Manage inventory by ordering and stocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness in examination rooms and equipment.
- Transport patients as necessary.
- Actively engage in quality improvement initiatives, focusing on patient satisfaction and care workflows.
- Uphold the organization's mission, vision, and values while adhering to service behavior standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) is mandatory.
- New graduates must achieve registry certification within 18 months of hire.
- Health Care Provider Life Support certification is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An Associate's degree is preferred.
- At least one year of ultrasound experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

- Manual dexterity is required to operate complex and delicate equipment with precision.
- Regular computer use for documenting patient care and accessing information is expected.
- Ability to lift and utilize a full range of movement to transfer patients, including bending to retrieve and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights.
- Must be able to walk and assist with transporting patients and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing and pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
- May be required to navigate crowded environments and stand for extended periods.
