Role Overview:
The Project Engineer Intern will support the Project Manager in various tasks and serve as a crucial link between the field operations and the office environment. This position involves defining project goals through meticulous planning, execution, and completion while adhering to established timelines and budget constraints.

Your Contributions:

  • Foster relationships with project managers, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors to promote a collaborative environment and lay the groundwork for a successful career in construction.
  • Work alongside the superintendent to monitor material usage and maintain positive vendor relationships for tracking and coordination purposes.
  • Champion the Helix safety culture by promoting job site safety and accident prevention measures.
  • Participate in the Change Order process and gain exposure to estimating tools.
  • Collaborate with the project team to review subcontract agreements, enhancing understanding of project scope and pricing.
  • Assist in the procurement of materials and equipment.
  • Engage closely with the BIM department to contribute to the coordination and planning efforts.
  • Maintain detailed job logs, including transmittals, submittals, and RFIs.
  • Monitor quality control processes.
  • Manage labor schedules in collaboration with superintendents and project managers.
  • Facilitate the creation and ordering of prefabricated assemblies to support planning and timely delivery.
  • Visit job sites to gain comprehensive knowledge of the trade and utilize insights to enhance overall company performance.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience in construction or internships is preferred.
  • Highly motivated with a proactive approach.
  • Basic mathematical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Able to collaborate well with all organizational levels.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement of departmental processes.

The starting hourly base pay for this role is $21 USD.
