Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Sterile Processing Tech Manager and Management Services Officers (MSO), the Surgical Instrumentation Specialist plays a crucial role within the Surgical Supply division, specifically in the main operating rooms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently process surgical instruments in a decontamination environment.
- Assemble and sterilize instrument trays essential for uninterrupted service across all surgical procedure rooms.
- Operate various sterilization equipment including steam and H2O2 sterilizers, sonic cleaners, washers, heat sealers, and dumbwaiters.
- Manage inventory by storing, dating, and rotating supplies in accordance with TJC and CMS standards.
Qualifications:
- Proficient understanding of aseptic techniques, sterile environments, and the principles of Operating Room decontamination.
- Correctly utilize diverse decontamination machinery and instrument/tray sterilizers.
- Familiarity with bacteriology and medical terminology is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with all team members.
- Ability to effectively communicate using proper English grammar and vocabulary for supervising, orienting, and training colleagues.
Work Schedule: 39 hours per week.
