The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of EHSS strategies and initiatives that promote a safe and healthy work environment for all members of the university community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to EHSS staff on radiation and laser safety matters.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies and organizations to stay informed about industry developments and best practices.
  • Prepare and submit reports to senior management and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulations, laws, and industry best practices related to radiation and laser safety.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree in a field related to environmental health and safety is required.
  • Certification in radiation and laser safety is required. Relevant certifications include Certified Health Physicist (CHP) and Certified Laser Safety Officer (CLSO).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of radiation and laser safety concepts, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for this position.
