Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to our substation operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage the work of the functional group, leading projects and initiatives to improve operational effectiveness.
  • Provide technical expertise to critical and highly complex substation, distribution, and transmission operation and control functions.
  • Conduct complex engineering research studies and technical analyses to identify solutions to operational challenges.
  • Develop and modify policies and practices to improve the overall operational effectiveness of our transmission and distribution system.
  • Lead development and implementation processes and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Communicate program and policy updates with impacted stakeholders, including substation operations staff and management.
  • Evaluate policies, procedures, and other documentation to ensure compliance with company safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise local relay technicians, communication technicians, and substation journeymen, developing and reviewing daily and weekly schedules as needed.
  • Provide training as needed for various departments, including dispatch, relay technicians, and substation journeyman.
  • Provide technical oversight and guidance to the T&D system operations apparatus support staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of seven years of industry experience as a substation commissioning, design, or maintenance engineer or related field.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory or functional management role.
  • Knowledge of the power system and assessment skills, including problem diagnosis and identification of proper methods and techniques to resolve and prevent future problems.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization, including people with different styles and backgrounds.
  • Expert knowledge of current technologies, tools, systems, and vendors.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers and automated tools.
  • Understanding of applicable company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supervising technical personnel.
  • Advanced technical degree or Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
