Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Director to join our team at Navajo Health Foundation. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Human Resources Office's strategic objectives, planning, organizing, and supervising the assigned functions required to operate and maintain departmental activities and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Executive Team to formulate, develop, implement, and evaluate a HR and Talent Management Strategy to achieve the organization's vision, mission, and goals.
  • Mitigate legal risk to the organization through proactive training and education, clear systems, and processes for managing conflicts with and between employees, handling and investigating complaints of harassment/discrimination and other unjust practice allegations.
  • Maintain current knowledge and application of all relevant laws and regulations at the local, state, federal, and tribal level relating to employment and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Design and implement a strategy to optimize and integrate HR technology, enabling managers and employees to easily perform people-related transactions, facilitates delivery of effective HR services, securely stores employee data, and supports people-related decisions.
  • Lead and develop a team of HR staff, including HR Benefits, HR Specialists, HR Generalist, Admin Assistant, Child Care Supervisor, temporary workers, and/or volunteers.
  • Develop a strategic plan for all HR functions, including recruitment and employment, compensation and benefits, personnel records, information systems, performance development, evaluation programs, childcare program, and staff education and training.
  • Responsible for developing, updating, and implementing the Human Resources Policies and Procedures, in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of applicable tribal, federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, including Navajo Nation Labor Commission, and The Joint Commission Accreditation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing with staff and the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate leadership and team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to speak the Navajo language and/or familiarity with the Navajo Way.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
