Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Machine Learning Hardware Engineer to join our team at Qualcomm. As a key member of our Engineering Group, you will be responsible for designing and developing cutting-edge machine learning hardware solutions for inference and training applications.

Your primary focus will be on co-designing machine learning software and hardware to achieve optimal performance, power efficiency, and accuracy. You will work closely with our internal stack teams and collaborate with leading automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to drive innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.

To succeed in this role, you must have a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, particularly those related to automotive use cases such as autonomous driving, vision, and LiDAR processing. Experience in neural network quantization, compression, pruning algorithms, and deep learning kernel/compiler optimization is highly desirable.

You will be responsible for modeling, architecting, and developing optimized software to enable AI models deployed on hardware. This includes collaborating with team members for joint design and development, conducting complex experiments to train and evaluate machine learning models, and adapting or prototyping complex machine learning algorithms, models, or frameworks aligned with product proposals or roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop machine learning hardware solutions for inference and training applications
  • Co-design machine learning software and hardware to achieve optimal performance, power efficiency, and accuracy
  • Collaborate with internal stack teams and external partners to drive innovation in AI
  • Develop optimized software to enable AI models deployed on hardware
  • Conduct complex experiments to train and evaluate machine learning models
  • Adapt or prototype complex machine learning algorithms, models, or frameworks

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 2+ years of experience in hardware engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, or related work experience
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field and 1+ year of experience in hardware engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, or related work experience
  • PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals, including neural networks and deep learning
  • Experience in neural network quantization, compression, pruning algorithms, and deep learning kernel/compiler optimization
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Compensation:

The estimated salary for this position is $140,800 - $211,200 per year, depending on qualifications and location. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.
