Job Overview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

Installing, operating, maintaining, repairing, lubricating, and diagnosing complex processing and high-speed packaging machinery, along with other equipment within the facility, such as gearboxes, variable speed drives, pumps, compressors, dust collection systems, code daters, and check weighers.

Conducting predictive and preventative maintenance tasks as outlined in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting various types of A/C and D/C electrical equipment.

Operating production machinery as part of troubleshooting and validating completed maintenance tasks.

Collaborating with Engineering for the installation of new equipment, utilizing drawings, verbal instructions, and sketches.

Working alongside technical support, operations teams, and fellow mechanics to address machine or personnel-related issues.

Assisting in the management of spare parts inventory by checking out parts from the parts room, following parts ordering procedures, and restocking inventory as directed.

Maintaining cleanliness and organization in shop areas and the parts room.

Actively engaging in root cause analysis and other continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

Proposing and implementing ideas for continuous improvement.

Occasionally performing tasks in other areas, such as building maintenance.

Adhering to safety and cGMP regulations, following Lockout/Tagout (LO/TO) safety procedures, and wearing all personal protective equipment as mandated by company safety policies.

Qualifications and Educational Background

To successfully fulfill this role, an individual must be capable of performing each essential duty satisfactorily. Preferred Qualifications

An associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience, or a minimum of five years of related experience.

A comprehensive understanding of machine troubleshooting, electrical and mechanical systems, fabrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, OSHA standards, and cGMPs, as well as lock-out/tag-out procedures, is essential.

Experience in the food or pharmaceutical industry is preferred.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.

Capability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Effective communication skills with coworkers and supervisors.

Bilingual proficiency is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL ABILITY

Ability to work with mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios, addition, subtraction, multiplication, decimals, and measurements.

REASONING ABILITY

Strong problem-solving skills are required.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Basic computer skills are necessary. Must possess the ability to train and mentor other employees, including less experienced maintenance mechanics. Excellent interpersonal and listening skills are required.

Must be an independent thinker capable of making sound decisions in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Understanding of company priorities and core values is essential, and daily activities must align with them. Strong organizational, planning, and attention to detail skills are required.

Initiative to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision is essential.

Must be able to read and comprehend electrical and mechanical blueprints, utilize basic shop math, and quickly grasp the operational theory of both processing and high-speed packaging equipment. Familiarity with PLCs, solid-state, and servo control systems is required.

Possesses a working knowledge of electrical testing equipment such as digital multimeters, amp probes, and megger devices.

Willingness to work different shifts and weekends, as well as travel to other facilities, is necessary.

Basic machine shop skills, including drilling, tapping, and using a drill press and pedestal grinder, are needed. Skills in MIG and TIG welding are advantageous.
