Job Summary

This part-time firefighter position is responsible for performing specialized firefighting work, including driving, operating, and maintaining firefighting equipment, fighting fires, and crash/rescue operations at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Firefighting Operations: Perform firefighting work, including driving and operating firefighting equipment, fighting fires, and crash/rescue operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain departmental equipment, buildings, and grounds.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, including fires, crashes, and medical emergencies.
  • Training and Development: Participate in comprehensive station training programs and stay up-to-date with new techniques, equipment, and procedures.
  • Community Outreach: Participate in public education and community service programs, instructing diverse audiences on fire safety and prevention.
  • Inspections and Investigations: Conduct pre-fire plans, building, parking deck, fuel farm, safety area, runway light, and wildlife inspections, and participate in crash/fire scene investigations.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records, reports, and other documents related to firefighting operations and activities.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Firefighter II, Haz-mat Level I, and EMT certifications.
  • Skills: Working knowledge of firefighting and rescue principles, practices, and procedures, including FAA requirements.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and operating heavy equipment.
