Job Title: Hardware in the Loop Engineer Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced engineer to lead the design and construction of complex hardware in the loop (HWIL) test systems for weapon systems critical to national defense. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hardware in the loop systems, team leadership, and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of engineers to design, build, and run hardware in the loop setups around unique weapon systems.
  • Mentor staff on HWIL designs, break up tasks as needed, and ensure timely completion.
  • Present status and results to project, program, and external sponsors as needed.
  • Work with software and hardware designers to ensure latency, thread safety, and data communication protocols.
  • Collaborate with embedded hardware systems and sensors, understanding electrical interfaces and communications protocols.
  • Document code, setup CI/CD, network systems together, and communicate team status and needs.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar field.
  • 6+ years of experience working with hardware in the loop test beds.
  • Strong software programming skills, understanding of electrical signals, and embedded systems communication.
  • Ability to lead a team of 2-6 engineers to design and build out a Hardware in the Loop testbed.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Significant experience designing and setting up hardware in the loop test beds.
  • Experience designing high-fidelity software simulations for flying platforms.
  • Familiarity with weapon systems such as missiles, hypersonics, seekers, and naval platforms.
  • Familiarity with one or more of CUDA, FPGA, GIT, compilers, software-defined radio (SDR), RFSoC, networking protocols, object-oriented programming, Python, MatLab, Simulink, and RF systems.
  • Ability and desire to learn new skills through documentation, classes, examples, and experimentation.
