About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at the University of California, Irvine Student Health Center. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients in a safe and efficient manner
  • Operate laboratory equipment and perform quality control checks
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient care
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest laboratory procedures and protocols
Requirements
  • Current California State Phlebotomist License
  • Maintains current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Minimum of one year experience in Phlebotomy that covers pediatrics to elderly blood draw
  • General knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Interpersonal Skills that recognizes the essentials of voice of the customer
  • Demonstrates Quality of Work & Detailed Oriented
  • Able to work in Collaboration with all internal and external customers
  • Work in a Productive manner
  • Demonstrate great Communication skills
  • Familiarity with the use of Laboratory Information Systems
  • PC skills, MS Office applications
Working Conditions

This position's schedule is M-F and during traditional work hours, however, weekend or non-traditional work hours may be required for special projects or busy times of the year, or when strict deadlines must be met.

Employment in this position is contingent upon successful completion of a Department of Justice (DOJ) Live Scan background check, verification and continued monitoring or licensure as it applies to the position, and successful completion of our background review or credentialing process, as appropriate to the position.

The employee must comply with OSHA, CA/OSHA, and CDC recommendations and requirements regarding vaccination and testing of healthcare employees. This includes, but may not be limited to; current hepatitis B immunizations, annual flu vaccinations, and annual tuberculosis screening.

The employee must comply with CDPH and UC COVID-19 Vaccine Policy, by providing proof of Full Vaccination or submitting a request for Exception.

Per the UC Ethics Briefing, the employee is responsible for reporting any and all potential conflicts of interest to their supervisor in a timely manner.
