Job Summary

The Housekeeping Aid Leader is a key member of the Environmental Management Services (EMS) team at the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION. This role is responsible for leading and supervising a team of Housekeeping Aids to ensure the maintenance of a clean, organized, and sanitary environment within the VA Medical Center.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of Housekeeping Aids to ensure the completion of housekeeping tasks and projects.
  • Develop and implement housekeeping procedures and protocols to ensure compliance with EMS and Medical Center policies and regulations.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as nursing and facilities management, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide training and guidance to Housekeeping Aids on proper cleaning techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor and report on housekeeping performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure all housekeeping tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner, meeting or exceeding established standards.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a related field, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of Housekeeping Aids.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
Working Conditions

The Housekeeping Aid Leader will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases. The role requires the ability to work in a variety of settings, including operating rooms, treatment rooms, and patient rooms.
