Job Summary

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at St James Parish Hospital provides essential care and support to patients, working under the guidance of licensed nursing staff and adhering to hospital policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow instructions from nursing staff and perform duties in accordance with hospital policy and state regulations.
  • Implement Universal Precautions for all patients.
  • Document observations and care provided, ensuring clear and complete records.
  • Assist with patient admissions, orienting family members and providing hospitality.
  • Contribute to a safe and comfortable environment for patients, maintaining a clean and organized unit.
  • Participate in daily report and prioritize patient needs.
  • Measure and report vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure.
  • Perform personal care tasks, such as bathing, perineal care, and assisting with toileting.
  • Properly lift, move, and position patients, performing ROM exercises as directed.
  • Communicate changes or unusual observations to nursing staff in a timely manner.
  • Assist with feeding and provide ice/water to patients, recording intake and reporting changes.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification through the State of Louisiana.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
  • Physical and emotional stamina to perform job duties.
Work Schedule

11am-11pm, every other weekend, rotating holidays.
