Job Overview

The City of Marquette is seeking a dedicated Homemaker / Personal Care Aide to support our senior community. This part-time role is essential in assisting elderly individuals to maintain their independence and comfort in their own homes.

Work Schedule: Candidates will have the flexibility to establish a preferred work schedule from Monday to Wednesday, with Thursdays designated as an on-call day requiring 24 hours notice. The position offers between 12 to 29 hours of work per week, with no evening, weekend, or holiday shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Assist with light meal preparation as authorized.
  • Manage laundry services, including ironing.
  • Conduct grocery shopping for clients.
  • Participate in periodic client assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and organized daily client records.
  • Refer clients to caseworkers for additional support when necessary.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all client information.
  • Provide minimal personal care support, such as assistance with bathing, dressing, and grooming.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role.
  • Previous experience in housekeeping is preferred.
  • Care Aide certification or relevant experience is required.
  • Genuine interest in working with elderly individuals.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs, with frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and occasional sitting.
  • Capability to perform repetitive motions and operate controls.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching.
