Peraton is seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer to spearhead a mechanical team dedicated to the development of spaceflight instruments.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties for this role encompass:
- Conducting intricate structural and mechanical design for instruments and experimental payload initiatives.
- Engaging in the design, modeling, analysis, development, fabrication, testing, and alignment of precision structures, mechanical interfaces, enclosures, and mechanisms.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in utilizing Finite Element Modeling (FEM) tools for assessing flight loads, stress, and dynamic analysis, alongside familiarity with fracture control plans and procedures.
Team LeadershipAs a team leader, the candidate will be responsible for:
- Overseeing conceptual and detailed mechanical design studies.
- Producing comprehensive designs and drawings for instruments, payloads, and spacecraft structures, as well as Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
- Creating layout and detailed fabrication drawings in Computer Aided Design (CAD) formats.
Required qualifications include:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics (preferably a Master’s in Engineering) from an accredited institution.
- At least 12 years of aerospace-related experience.
- Proven experience in structural analysis for flight hardware.
- Expertise in the design and testing of flight hardware, particularly in the development of spacecraft mechanical systems and sub-systems.
- Experience leading a team of at least five individuals.
- Possession of a Secret level Security Clearance.
The anticipated salary range for this position is between $146,000 and $234,000, reflecting the typical compensation based on experience and other relevant factors.
