Job Summary

The University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Area Director for Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong understanding of the region's agricultural and natural resource needs, as well as the ability to build and maintain partnerships with local stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction to UCCE programs in Marin, Napa and Sonoma counties, ensuring alignment with UC ANR's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with county government officials, agricultural industry leaders, and other key stakeholders to advance UCCE's mission and goals.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to address regional agricultural and natural resource issues, including sustainable food production, environmental conservation, and economic development.
  • Supervise and mentor UCCE academic and support staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the success of UCCE programs.
  • Collaborate with UC ANR colleagues and other partners to leverage resources and expertise, and to advance UCCE's mission and goals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as agricultural science, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a university or government setting.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining partnerships with local stakeholders, including county government officials, agricultural industry leaders, and other key stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the region's agricultural and natural resource needs, as well as the ability to develop and implement effective strategies to address these needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Working Conditions

This is a career appointment that is 100% fixed. The position will be headquartered in Marin County (Novato), Napa County (Napa), or Sonoma County (Santa Rosa). The University of California offers comprehensive benefits, including vacation, sick leave, and approximately thirteen paid holidays per year.
