Role Summary:

The Lead CFD Engineer will be instrumental in formulating and executing comprehensive plans for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Computational Aero Acoustics (CAA) analyses pertinent to the design, development, and testing of eVTOL aircraft.

This position will engage regularly with the Flight Technology team, overseeing the planning and execution of analyses, data management, and best practices, while serving as a technical resource for the broader CFD team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, lead, and execute CFD analyses to facilitate the design and testing of eVTOL throughout various development phases.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to fellow CFD Engineers and the wider team.
  • Conduct CFD simulations to generate feedback for aerodynamic databases.
  • Perform CAA analyses to offer insights on aircraft noise levels.
  • Plan and execute CFD studies on aerodynamic interactions at both component and vehicle levels.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with low and mid-fidelity open rotor noise assessments.
  • Collaborate on the formulation and refinement of Design of Experiment guidelines and automated processes to enhance computational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of analysis techniques for unconventional aircraft designs.
  • Work alongside the engineering team to conduct multi-disciplinary trade studies to inform design choices.
  • Support both ground and flight testing initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required; a Master's Degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience within the aerospace sector.
  • A proven track record of successful contributions in progressively senior roles.
  • Expertise in advanced computational fluid dynamics analysis methodologies.
  • A comprehensive understanding of CFD engineering principles.
  • Extensive experience utilizing CFD to assess new and innovative technologies.
  • Additional contributions may include familiarity with vertical lift aircraft.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proactive in communication and follow-up.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to independently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Self-driven and forward-thinking.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite.

The compensation package for this role may vary based on skills, experience, and job-related knowledge. This position is also eligible for a performance-based bonus.
