Key Responsibilities:

The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) – GU/GI Oncology is accountable for implementing the nursing process, overseeing clinical practices, engaging in research, providing consultative services, and managing patient care throughout the healthcare continuum, from preventive measures to discharge. The role requires both independent decision-making and collaboration with board-certified physicians to deliver expert patient care.

  • Reports directly to the medical director and chief nursing officer (CNO), functioning as a vital member of the medical team.
  • Operates under the regulations set forth by the Board of Registered Nursing California, adhering to the Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedures developed collaboratively within the specialty area.
  • Delivers personalized care in alignment with Cedars-Sinai's philosophies, including adherence to Nursing Standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, and departmental policies.
  • Conducts all responsibilities with sensitivity to the age and developmental stages of the populations served, which may include neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors.
  • Assesses the ability of patients to follow instructions and provide consent, identifying safety concerns and implementing measures to ensure a secure environment while evaluating patient needs.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an Oncology Nurse Practitioner (preferred).

At least three (3) years of nursing experience, ideally in Oncology.

Experience in GU/GI Oncology is highly preferred.

Educational and Licensure Requirements:

Master's Degree in Nursing.

Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program recognized by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Current Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner Licenses in the State of California.

National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.

Active DEA license and Furnishing Number.

Current ACLS certification.
