Job Title: Academic Specialist

Primary Purpose: To deliver engaging educational experiences in essential academic disciplines that foster intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Assist students in acquiring vital skills necessary for their success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Texas teaching certification with necessary endorsements
  • Proven proficiency in the designated subject area
  • Fluency in a foreign language for LOTE educators
  • For Physical Education instructors: Current AED certification

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Expertise in the assigned subject matter
  • Comprehension of curriculum development and instructional methodologies
  • Ability to effectively manage classroom behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities

Experience:

  • At least one year of student teaching or an approved internship

Responsibilities:

Instructional Strategies

  • Design and execute engaging lesson plans
  • Modify lessons to meet diverse learning needs
  • Employ suitable instructional techniques and resources
  • Evaluate student requirements and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Collaborate with special education colleagues

Equipment Used:

  • Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional tools; AED

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversee assigned teaching assistants.
