Data Engineer II

Boston Children's Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer I to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of biomedical engineers, orthopedic surgeons, and computer and data scientists to develop data pipelines that process electronic medical records for clinical care, research, and operations. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities
The Data Engineer I will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data processing pipelines using various database and analytic technologies. They will also support the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to gather and process data from electronic medical records. Additionally, they will participate in discussions with clinicians, researchers, and administrators to identify and refine project requirements and collaborate with other data engineers on tools, languages, and code/process improvements.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must have at least 1 year of experience in data engineering or a related field. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related scientific discipline is required, with a Master's degree being a plus. Candidates must also demonstrate experience with Python programming and data processing libraries, such as pandas and NumPy, as well as familiarity with SQL and database models. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and accuracy are essential for success in this role.
