Position Overview: The Speech-Language Pathologist in an educational environment is tasked with conducting student assessments and delivering therapy services in alignment with individualized care plans and physician directives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate students' communication abilities (e.g., articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language) to identify communication disorders, assess eligibility for programs, and formulate treatment recommendations.
  • Engage with various stakeholders to share information, address concerns, and provide services in accordance with established protocols.
  • Organize meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g., testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences) to present evaluation findings, develop treatment strategies, and offer training to parents, students, and staff.
  • Create treatment plans, interventions, and educational resources aimed at reducing the negative effects of communication disorders while adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Guide eligible students in utilizing appropriate communication technologies (e.g., hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication devices).
  • Maintain comprehensive records (e.g., progress reports, activity logs, billing information, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results).
  • Participate in professional gatherings, workshops, and seminars (e.g., training, IEPs, team meetings).
  • Deliver speech and language therapy to students to mitigate the impact of speech and language disorders on academic success, while pursuing relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of practice is mandatory.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred and may be required by state or contract.
  • Adhere to all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (as per contract or state regulation).
  • Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to and from relevant individuals (including supervisors, co-workers, clients) through strong communication skills; proficiency in English is required.
  • Computer proficiency is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
