Speech Language Pathologist for Educational Settings

Position Overview: The Speech-Language Pathologist in an educational environment is tasked with conducting student assessments and delivering therapy services in alignment with individualized care plans and physician directives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate students' communication abilities (e.g., articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language) to identify communication disorders, assess eligibility for programs, and formulate treatment recommendations.
- Engage with various stakeholders to share information, address concerns, and provide services in accordance with established protocols.
- Organize meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g., testing/screening, IEPs, parent conferences) to present evaluation findings, develop treatment strategies, and offer training to parents, students, and staff.
- Create treatment plans, interventions, and educational resources aimed at reducing the negative effects of communication disorders while adhering to regulatory standards.
- Guide eligible students in utilizing appropriate communication technologies (e.g., hearing aids, FM systems, augmentative communication devices).
- Maintain comprehensive records (e.g., progress reports, activity logs, billing information, treatment plans, required documentation, quarterly reports, screening results).
- Participate in professional gatherings, workshops, and seminars (e.g., training, IEPs, team meetings).
- Deliver speech and language therapy to students to mitigate the impact of speech and language disorders on academic success, while pursuing relevant professional development opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of practice is mandatory.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is preferred and may be required by state or contract.
- Adhere to all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR certification, if applicable.
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (as per contract or state regulation).
- Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate information to and from relevant individuals (including supervisors, co-workers, clients) through strong communication skills; proficiency in English is required.
- Computer proficiency is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
