About the Role:

  • This position involves working closely with the school administration, staff, and parents to develop and implement comprehensive health programs for students.
  • As a School Health Care Professional, you will conduct health assessments, vision and hearing screenings, and provide guidance on immunization requirements.
  • You will work collaboratively with teachers to identify and address individual student health concerns, and provide counseling to help students cope with disabilities.
  • This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, submitting timely reports, and adhering to district health and safety policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Establish and maintain a comprehensive health program for students and employees
  2. Conduct student health appraisals, including nursing assessments, vision screenings, and weighing/measuring
  3. Cordinate a program of communicable disease control based on Kansas's immunization laws
  4. Provide emergency care for accidents and sudden illness of pupils until parents assume responsibility
  5. Enforce and monitor medication guidelines
  6. Coordinate and supervise a comprehensive program of dental health education
  7. Counsel with teachers, students, and parents concerning children's individual health concerns
  8. Assist in referral and planning programs for exceptional children

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Registered Nurse (RN) license from the Kansas Board of Nursing
  • CPR certification
  • One year of experience as a registered nurse preferred
  • Auditory screening certification (willing to secure after hiring)

Salary and Benefits: The estimated annual salary range for this position is $60,000 - $100,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Our district offers competitive benefits, including uncategorized PTO, paid parental leave, and participation in the Kansas Teachers' Retirement System.
