Job Description

Join the State of North Carolina Department of Transportation as a Transportation Worker I and contribute to the maintenance and construction of roads and roadside features. This is a permanent, full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate standard hand tools, power equipment, vehicles, and heavy equipment for preventive maintenance, repair, and construction of roads and roadside features.
  • Inspect and ensure work zone safety, and participate in snow and ice removal.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair projects, including flagging, operating heavy equipment, and performing manual labor.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience operating power tools and small hand tools, as well as performing manual labor.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and obtain a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver's License with N endorsement within 360 days of hire.
