Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian II to join our team at the City of Pasadena. As a key member of our Youth Services team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that promote literacy, learning, and a love of reading among children and young adults.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement the Youth Services Program at assigned library location, including planning and coordinating in-house and outreach programming for Youth, parents, and caregivers.
- Coordinate the Youth Summer Reading Program at assigned location, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for participants.
- Organize and self-direct work responsibly, working cooperatively with all staff at every level to foster positive working relationships.
- Develop, select, and maintain a library collection for youth, ensuring a diverse range of materials that meet the needs of our community.
- Perform outreach activities to local schools and community organizations to promote Youth services, representing the library with community organizations pertaining to children.
- Participate in marketing library programs and services through various formats, including print, online, and media.
- Edit the Library's webpage for youth services, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited college or university.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant experience in a library setting.
- Strong knowledge of children's literature, programming, and outreach strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Preferred experience using online apps, such as Microsoft Office/365, Beanstack reading challenge software, LibraryAware, and LibCal calendar.
- Preferred experience with Maker Space equipment, including 3D printers, Laser Cutters, and Circuit.
