Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Breastfeeding Consultant. As a key member of our lactation support team, you will play a vital role in providing expert care and guidance to new mothers and their babies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patient needs, diagnose lactation problems, and develop personalized plans to support breastfeeding success.
  • Provide one-on-one lactation support to mothers and their babies, both in-hospital and post-discharge.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care and support for breastfeeding families.
  • Develop and implement lactation education programs for healthcare professionals and new parents.
  • Conduct prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluate educational outcomes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in lactation support and breastfeeding education.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice.
  • Lactation Consultant certification (IBLCE) within 1 year of hire.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • 2 years of experience in professional nursing in a labor and delivery setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop rapport and maintain positive relationships with patients, staff, and physicians.
  • Proficient computer skills, including keyboarding, navigation, and use of electronic medical records systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
