Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Dental Hygiene Specialist to join our team at Covington Family Dentistry. As a key member of our oral health care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality dental hygiene services to our patients.
Responsibilities- Instrument Sterilization: Ensure all dental instruments are properly sterilized and maintained to prevent cross-contamination.
- X-rays and Intraoral Photos: Take accurate x-rays and intraoral photos to assist in diagnosing and treating dental conditions.
- Scheduling and Patient Management: Schedule patient appointments and manage dental patient records to ensure efficient and effective care.
- Dental Charting and Coding: Accurately document patient dental charts and codes to maintain accurate records.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and present personalized treatment plans to patients, including recommendations for dental hygiene and care.
- Collaboration with Dentist: Work closely with our dentist to provide comprehensive dental care and treatment recommendations.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on proper dental hygiene techniques and provide guidance on maintaining good oral health.
- Dental Procedures: Perform various dental hygiene procedures, including prophylaxis, scaling, and root planning, to maintain patients' oral health.
- Infection Control: Ensure compliance with infection control protocols to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, calling labs, and patient follow-up calls.
- Supply Management: Maintain dental supplies and equipment to ensure efficient and effective care.
- Documentation: Accurately document patient health information and maintain accurate records.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with our team to provide exceptional patient care and maintain a positive work environment.
- Education: Associate's degree from an ADA-accredited dental hygiene program.
- Licensure: Current state licensure to practice as a dental hygienist.
- Certification: Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in dental patient management software, such as Open Dental or Dentrix.
- Skills: Strong teamwork and communication skills, ability to multi-task, attention to detail, and adaptability.
