Medical Laboratory Specialist

Job Summary:
As a Medical Laboratory Specialist at Artesia General Hospital, you will play a vital role in receiving, processing, and analyzing specimens for laboratory analysis. This position requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as you will be working with various patient age groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and process venous and capillary samples from patients of all age groups.
- Conduct performance evaluations on laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Maintain laboratory equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform required tests as ordered by physicians.
- Assist in supervising and training employees.
- Participate in quality assurance, quality control, accreditation, and regulatory activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Technology or related field.
- Two years of generalist experience preferred.
- Training in blood bank, microbiology, and phlebotomy preferred.
- ASCP, AMT, HHS, or NCA certification or registry eligibility within 90 days of hire.
Work Environment:
Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood or other body fluids.
