Job Summary

The Principal Systems Engineer will work with a cross-functional team to develop and deliver high-performance, high-reliability integrated systems for the U.S. Department of Defense and other customers. This role will be responsible for determining system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for system compatibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities with design and engineering functions
  • Transform customer needs into system specifications and performance parameters
  • Support business development and sales in customer requirement analysis and technical support
  • Develop flow-down specifications for systems and subsystems
  • Provide interdisciplinary design and product support
  • Interface with operational teams, including supply chain, customer service, and quality and compliance
  • Perform analyses for cost, reliability, maintainability, testability, and other quality factors
  • Perform risk assessments and generate mitigation plans
  • Develop verification and validation methods and plans
  • Oversee technical progress and direction of programs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred with 12+ years of experience, or Master's degree/PhD preferred with 8+ years of experience
  • Ability to define and conduct experiments to identify root causes of technical problems
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Ability to learn new technology and products
  • Continuous learner with personal initiative and motivation
  • US DoD Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of program management, scheduling, and earned value analysis
  • Experience with engineering design tools, such as Solidworks and EPDM
  • Understanding of CBRN sensors and devices and related operational mission requirements
  • Familiarity with electro-optical/infra-red camera systems, radar systems, and electro-mechanical systems and controls
