Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Recreation Coordinator to join our team at Indy Gov. As a Recreation Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing various recreational programs and services for our community.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Design, implement, and evaluate programs and services to meet the needs of our community.
  • Coordinate recreational programs, sports programs, special events, and field trips.
  • Follow all Indy Gov policies and procedures.
  • Interact with community committees and other assigned committees and boards as requested by your supervisor.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and advising on-site personnel, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Supervise all participants' medical needs and safety while in the program.
  • Coordinate daily program communications in-house and to the community.
  • Implement daily attendance procedures.
  • Schedule classes and assist in planning.
  • Supervise and coordinate recreational programs.
  • Collect, deposit, and secure park funds. May be required to fill out reports and forms.
  • Supervise the use of supplies, equipment, and facilities.
  • Set up and break down for regular scheduled activities and events.
  • Enforce rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for cleanliness and general appearance of work site and provide a positive image between department and community.
  • Support and assist participants, volunteers, and staff while in program activities.
  • Maintain all necessary records and files for reporting and audit.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all information.

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Physical Education, Recreation Administration, and/or related field preferred.
  • One (1) year of related work experience may be substituted for each year of formal education.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be self-motivated and dependable.
  • Ability to plan and organize events and meetings to include agendas and timelines.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet various deadlines is a must.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both forms - oral and written.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Must have knowledge of work processing software such as Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • Licenses/certifications required: Valid Indiana operator's license required.
  • Ability to obtain within 6 month of employment: Indiana Public Passenger Chauffeur's license.
  • Ability to obtain within 6 weeks of employment: CPR and first aid licenses.
