Position Overview:

PCSI is seeking a dedicated custodial technician to maintain cleanliness and orderliness in various facilities. This role involves performing a range of routine and semi-skilled cleaning tasks to ensure that office buildings, commercial spaces, and institutional environments are kept in pristine condition. The successful candidate will report directly to the project manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute a variety of routine and semi-skilled custodial tasks to maintain assigned areas in a clean and orderly state.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, break rooms, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other workspaces.
  • Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water and chemicals according to safety guidelines.
  • Polish metal fixtures, lighting, marble surfaces, and trim to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Sweep, mop, and occasionally operate floor buffers; may involve stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing floors.
  • Clean carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, and draperies; may require steam cleaning or shampooing.
  • Move and dust furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Wash walls, ceilings, windows, door panels, sills, and woodwork to ensure cleanliness.
  • Empty and clean waste receptacles and ashtrays.
  • Transport trash, waste, and recyclables to designated disposal areas.
  • Service and replenish restroom supplies as needed.
  • Open and secure facilities as required.
  • Monitor outdoor areas, ensuring parking lots and walkways are free of debris; may involve mowing and trimming lawns.
  • During adverse weather conditions, may be tasked with snow removal from sidewalks and parking areas.
  • Document and maintain records of completed tasks.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: 1 year of prior experience in custodial work or a combination of education and training demonstrating relevant knowledge and skills.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in using general cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuums, and buffers.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment including lawn mowers and trimmers.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures for handling cleaning chemicals.
  • Capable of reading and following instructions for chemical usage.
  • Ability to maintain cleaning equipment in good working condition.
  • Understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all chemicals used.
  • Ability to adhere to policies and procedures while completing assigned tasks.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members and establish positive working relationships.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must pass background checks, including criminal and drug screenings.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing between 10-50 pounds and to walk for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and handle cleaning chemicals.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance if required.
