Role Summary:
Sovah Health – Martinsville is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to deliver clinical support within the primary care clinic under physician supervision. This role is essential for ensuring continuity and coordination of care in an outpatient environment.
- Conducts basic patient care tasks as assigned and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording patient intake and output.
- Performs office procedures, decentralized testing, and maintains supply inventory; assists with patient assessments and administers injections and immunizations.
- Reports any abnormal findings or changes in patients' conditions to nursing staff.
- Ensures patient rooms and common areas are well-stocked, clean, and organized.
- Manages drug sample closet and assists with hazardous waste protocols; handles filing and follow-up calls, including prescription requests.
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate's degree in Medical Assisting is preferred.
- Alternatively, a Medical Assistant certificate from an accredited college is acceptable.
Essential Skills:
- Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently are essential.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond appropriately to stress.
- Proficient reading and writing skills to follow directions accurately.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care to patients.
- Ability to respond swiftly and calmly in emergencies.
- Familiarity with medical equipment such as Pulse Oximeters, EKG Machines, and more.
Certification Requirements:
- A valid Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification is required.
- American Heart Association BLS Provider certification is mandatory.
Experience:
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
