Tax Manager

We are excited to present a remarkable opportunity for a seasoned Tax Manager within a reputable CPA firm based in the United States. This well-established organization is known for its exceptional service and offers a hybrid work model, promoting a healthy work-life balance. The firm serves a diverse clientele, including closely held businesses and high net worth individuals.

We welcome candidates from Big-4 firms, national firms, or large local CPA firms, as well as those who may require relocation assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead tax teams on-site, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity.
  2. Utilize advanced technology tools to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and data security.
  3. Conduct thorough reviews and approvals of tax returns and various tax consulting projects.
  4. Oversee tax projects and deadlines, taking personal accountability for signing as the tax preparer.
  5. Guarantee timely delivery of services while accepting final responsibility for all decisions made.
  6. Comprehend and enforce professional licensing standards, as well as the requirements of Circular 230, the IRC, and FTC for the tax team.
  7. Mentor tax team members, fostering their professional and personal development.
  8. Serve as a resource for tax staff and Partners regarding tax-related inquiries.
  9. Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and procedures, implementing necessary adjustments in workflows and standards to uphold professional excellence.
  10. Participate in designing annual training programs for tax staff.
  11. Collaborate with Partners and other business lines to ensure cohesive operations.
  12. Maintain professional relationships within the industry and engage in national, state, and local professional organizations.
Qualifications
  1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in public accounting.
  2. Active CPA license in California or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of employment.
  3. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Juris Doctor (J.D.) is required.
  4. Advanced degree in taxation is preferred.
  5. Strong tax research and writing skills are essential.
  6. Proficient knowledge of income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, nonprofits, and foundations. Experience with complex real estate transactions, trust accounting, foreign tax issues, and mergers & acquisitions is preferred.
  7. Public speaking experience is a plus.
  8. Excellent software proficiency is required.
  9. Demonstrated experience in managing a team of licensed professionals is necessary.
  10. Experience in tax controversy, audits, and rulings is strongly preferred.
  11. High emotional intelligence is essential.
  12. Proven leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives is preferred.
