Purchasing Agent Job Summary

D.R. Horton, Inc., a leading homebuilder in the U.S., is seeking a skilled Purchasing Agent to join their Purchasing Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for bidding on new projects, maintaining scopes of work, tracking blueprints and design changes, and ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Solicit bids from qualified subcontractors and suppliers
  • Pre-qualify subcontractors and vendors
  • Setup and monitor option costs and sales prices
  • Maintain and update current budgets
  • Spread revised bids and obtain approval for any price increases
  • Prepare direct costs analysis and variances for review
  • Input original Direct Costs budget
  • Execute lot starts and final proof all unit costs

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
