Job Summary:
Alfred University is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to join our team as Waterfront Safety Specialists. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons at our outdoor waterfront/recreation area.
Responsibilities:
- Emergency Response: Provide secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency, including providing emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Customer Service: Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times, maintaining a high standard of customer service and interacting with visitors in a friendly and helpful manner.
- Maintenance and Operations: Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility, including preparing and maintaining activity reports.
- Watercraft Operations: Provide information to visitors and operate watercraft with oars or paddle as needed.
Requirements:
- Certifications: Current certifications in Professional Rescuer CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding are required, with Waterfront Lifeguarding preferred.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations, communicate clearly and concisely, and work effectively with others.
- Physical Demands: Ability to swim in an outdoor water environment, maneuver a watercraft, and spend time in the outdoors, interacting with potential wildlife and exposed to inclement weather conditions.
- Education and Experience: Preference will be given to those over 18 years of age due to work requirements.
